Julie (Arsulowicz) Palasek

Julie (Arsulowicz) Palasek, age 67, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Julie was born on September 22, 1947 to Walter and Helen Arsulowicz, the second of four siblings. She married Scott R. Palasek, the love of her life, on June 10, 1966. Even though their relationship was rocky at times, they knew they couldn’t be without each other. Julie worked most of her life as a talented cosmetologist, her career spanned over 40 years, beginning when she was quite young. She started working for Panopoulos Salons and later opened her own salon, JP and Co. in Grand Haven Michigan. She later worked for IATSE Local 26, travelling and styling hair for many Broadway shows and performances held at DeVos Hall and other venues. Julie worked many jobs, however, her greatest job was that of being grandmother to Sophie, the joy and light of her life. Julie was a very loving and giving person, always willing to help others. She had a contagious smile, was a fantastic cook and loved to entertain her dinner guests with wine, a great meal and sometimes a little tap dancing. She loved to have fun & laugh and would do just about anything to make you laugh too. Our heart breaks as she leaves us from this earth, but knowing she is no longer suffering gives us comfort. Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Helen Arsulowicz, and in-laws Walter and Joyce Palasek; brother in law Joe Sweeney; and special cousin Marcia VanderVeen. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her devoted husband Scott, her loving children Martha Leavitt and Andrew Palasek, and her precious granddaughter Sophie. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Ann (Tim) O’Neill (her favorite and only sister), Mike (Betty) Arsulowicz, and Tony (Cammie Hartley) Arsulowicz, brother-in-law Mike (Virginia) Palasek, and sister-in-law Lynne Sweeney, and their families, her best and forever friends Mary Kay Whitaker, Vicki Hurley, Mary Biggerstaff, and Nancy Nagtzaam. Per her request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Arsulowicz Brothers Stocking Mortuary, 585 Stocking Ave NW, at 7 PM where her family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. A special thank you to Spectrum Health Hospice and the staff at Lemon/Holton Cancer Treatment Center for all their help. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Julie will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
